Engineered Fabrics Corporation (EFC) manufactures flexible aircraft fuel tanks made from rubber-impregnated polyester, polypropylene, polyurethane or nylon fabric. EFC is the leading supplier of flexible bladder fuel tanks for aircraft and helicopters for the U.S. military, worldwide commercial transport and general aviation markets.
Some of the fleets of aircraft on which Engineered Fabrics' flexible bladder fuel tanks are used include:
Fixed-Wing Military Aircraft: Northrop Grumman F-18 C/D and E/F, Boeing F-15, KC-10A, and KC-135; and Lockheed Martin C-130 and F-16.
Commercial Helicopters: Boeing MD-500 and MD-600; and Bell 214-ST.
Military Helicopters: Sikorsky UH-60 Blackhawk, SH-60 Seahawk, CH-53 Super Stallion, and MH-3 Sea Stallion; Boeing CH-47 and AH-64 Apache; and Bell/Boeing V-22 Osprey.
EFC also manufactures large collapsible storage tanks, baffle boxes, donnage bags for railroad cars, inflatable oil booms for spill containment, industrial seals and diaphragms, and composite iceguards, which are rigid woven fiberglass/epoxy laminates with encapsulated heating elements to prevent ice formation or to remove ice. Engineered Fabrics is the only FAA-certified U.S. supplier of polyurethane manufactured fuel tanks, which feature proprietary "selfsealing" technology, significantly reducing the potential for fires, leaks and fuel spills. In addition, EFC is increasing its activities as a resource for customers looking to outsource a portion of their manufacturing process, including developing interior cabin panels for helicopters.
EFC revenues grew from $47.2 million in 2002 to $59.5 million in 2004, as it pursues growth through the development of new products and technologies.
